Turtle Rock Studios, Inflection Games, 1C Entertainment… Tencent has bought several interesting studios again in recent months, just to expand its empire even further. The Chinese giant is diversifying its business again this week, not by acquiring a company, but by becoming its majority investor: it has in fact just injected a large sum of money into Tequila Works.
Deadlight, The Sexy Brutale, Rhyme, Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son and lately GYLT exclusively on Stadia, the studio based in Madrid since 2009 has already delivered a long list of varied and appreciated projects. It will take advantage of this new majority investor to move to the next level, by “fuelling its growth” in order to “produce new original licenses”.
