Tesla has just announced a large number of new features which will soon be deployed in its cars and on its application. At the center of the changes is a completely redesigned user interface for Tesla’s new Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built from 2022 with AMD chips. The visual overhaul includes an immersive full-screen view for vehicle controls when parked, enlarged media playback controls and the ability to expand viewing displays from Autopilot.

Perhaps the most visible element is the reduced map that has been moved to the upper right corner, replacing the current large central map. This allows the Driving visualizations take up more screen space during your ride.

What’s new for Teslas in the spring?

In addition to this new coat of paint, the update will introduce several new core features. The “Auto Shift Beta” function will finally allow the 2021 Model S and Model Automatically shift from forward to reverse and park based on the environment and driver inputs.

The update will also offer a native Audible application for the first time, giving Tesla owners a built-in way to listen to audiobooks from Amazon’s service. Spotify’s existing integration also benefits from improvements like synced queues across devices and adjustable playback speeds.

Other quality of life improvements include hands-free trunk opening by simply standing behind the vehicle with the key on your phone, the ability to view trip details on the rear screens, a potential for higher regenerative braking on the highway, and a new way of review Sentry mode sequences directly from notifications, convenient.

While Tesla’s holiday updates have seemed a little light in recent years, this upcoming spring release appears to be much more generous with features. Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly when these new features will be rolled out to everyone. They should be launched gradually over the coming weeks.
