Emergency services in Pasadena, California, shared on Twitter the mishap that happened to two American citizens and their 4-year-old child. The driver of the Tesla the family was in allegedly pressed the accelerator pedal instead of the brake pedal in the wrong place, at the wrong time. They were indeed in a residential area. Because of this clumsiness, the electric car went through the wall of a property, and plunged straight into the pool.

As can be seen in the photo released by the fire department, there was no distance between the roadway and the pool. Once through the retaining wall, the Tesla immediately began to sink. Fortunately, two employees from a nearby elementary school rushed to the rescue of the occupants of the vehicle. No injuries are therefore to be deplored..

In that case, no driver assistance features such as Autopilot or even Full Self-Driving were engaged. The accident was indeed the result of human error, and Elon Musk will not be singled out. That said, Tesla cars are not immune to technical failures. We thus remember the fatal accident that occurred in Paris on December 11, 2021, during which the Model 3 of a taxi driver suddenly accelerated and then hit 21 people.

Despite all this negative publicity, many automotive experts agree that Tesla cars are generally safe for their passengers, no less safe than other EVs in any case. At the beginning of the year 2023, a Model Y had rushed into the void from a cliff. The family on board miraculously survived. This is proof of the solidity of the brand’s products.
