Tesla quadruples the price of the Yoke steering wheel in the online configurator

We keep repeating it, but all prices are going up in everyday life. This is also true at Tesla, which now charges the Yoke steering wheel as an option on the Model X and Model S at €1000.

It’s certain Twitter that the information appeared first. The Yoke, Tesla’s famous and controversial steering wheel, is also suffering the effects of inflation. On the American site, its price increased from $250 to $1000. A quick check on the manufacturer’s French site confirms his statements: the Yoke now costs €1000 in Europe.

The price of the Yoke steering wheel has therefore quadrupled without Tesla officially announcing it. Of course, this option is only available on Tesla’s most expensive cars, namely the Model X and the Model S, but even for those who can afford to buy one of these two electric cars, the bill remains salty. Moreover, if the pill is hard for Americans to swallow (a 300% increaseall the same), what must French Tesla customers think, for whom the rectangular steering wheel was a free option until April 2023?

Tesla raises the price of the Yoke steering wheel dramatically

This price increase seems somewhat strange when you consider that Tesla is engaged in a devastating price war for Chinese automakers. American electric cars are becoming ever more attractive to consumers around the world, as proven by the number of registrations recorded by the brand on the Old Continent during the first half of 2023.

Teslas are also the best-selling electric cars in France, and it is highly unlikely that the Yoke price increase will change this trend. The French government’s proactive policy in terms of energy transition, notably through subsidies, is a real blessing for Elon Musk’s company, whose the Model 3 and the Model Y are suddenly becoming more and more affordable.
