THE Cybertruck of Tesla is currently going through a bad patch. Because several thousand models had to be urgently repatriated by the brand.

The end of last year allowed us to finally discover the highly anticipated very first Cybertruck from Tesla, a real competition beast, which can go from 0 to 100 kilometers in 2.7 seconds. A great performance, for a machine of around three tonnes, but a performance which at the same time makes it all the more dangerous in the event of a malfunction. And this is the case at the moment, with a fault identified in the brake pedal, which is leading to a massive recall.

3,878 Cybertrucks recalled

We reported this to you at the start of the week. Problems were recently spotted by Cybertruck owners with the accelerator pedal, with poor workmanship which could cause this pedal to block. Suffice it to say that there was a potential danger there, which has just been confirmed by the agency responsible for road safety in the United States, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to the latter, the problem comes from the use of a “ lubricant » when assembling the pedal. This would be a “ unapproved change », and which would be the cause of the poor adhesion of the pad to the pedal, as well as its propensity to partially detach from the pedal and get stuck inside the passenger compartment. As a result of the diagnosis, 3,878 Cybertrucks were recalled for repair.

All models marketed from November 13 affected

An impressive figure, since it is the sum of all the “ vehicles manufactured from November 13, 2023 to April 4, 2024 » who must return to Tesla, authorities fearing that the discovered defect is present in almost all of these vehicles. Almost all Cybertrucks have been sold to date.

Tesla for its part explains that it has not yet received any notification of “ collision, injury or death » due to this problem. The brand’s stores received orders on Friday April 19 to welcome owners of the vehicle in question and to carry out the necessary repairs free of charge. Cybertrucks produced from April 17 benefit from a new accelerator pedal.
