Tesla significantly reduces delivery times for its cars, good news

If you buy a Tesla car today, you should wait much less than your predecessors. Indeed, according to recent data, the manufacturer has managed to drastically reduce the delivery time of its vehicles. An evolution that it certainly owes to the resumption of production at the Shanghai Gigafactory as well as at the Fremont factory.

For several months, Tesla has been a victim of its own success. If the general enthusiasm for the manufacturer’s cars has always led to more or less longer delivery times, the shortage of components and the various containment measures have definitely not helped matters in 2022. Fortunately, it seems that the situation gradually improves.

According to analyst Troy Teslike, Tesla had 414,000 pending orders as of August 31. Cross-checking this figure against current production capacities, this equates to an average of 102 waits for buyers. Of course, this varies depending on the model selected, but it is already a good indicator of the manufacturer’s efforts in this area. Indeed, from March to July 2022, the register had approximately 500,000 orders.

Tesla is producing more, delivery times are getting shorter

It should be noted that we are still far from the scores at the end of 2021, which showed 257,000 pending orders. Nevertheless, the effects of the lifting of restrictions at the Gigafactory in Shanghai already seem to be felt. In the middle of the year, the factory was hit by particularly strict containment measures following an upsurge in Covid-19 cases in China, crippling Tesla’s production on an international scale.

The Fremont factory is also particularly prolific, since it is responsible for almost half of the production at the end of the summer. In fact, Tesla hopes to reduce the delivery time to a range between 4 and 8 weeks, or 28 to 56 days. A plan that may seem ambitious, but not necessarily impossible: in Shanghai, the Model Y SR is already shipped within 18 days. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Model X Long Range ships in one year, while the Model 3 Long Range ships in 202 days.
