The latest Tesla update does indeed bring the display of danger zones… including in France. In other words, you can let go Waze. Explanations.
As you probably know, since 2012 and decree 2012-3 linked to road safety, ” possession, transport and use of radar detectors “. Also, many people have adopted Waze for its GPS functions of course, but also for the now famous “danger zones”, which allow, among other things, to indicate… the position of speed cameras.
Tesla launches its “danger zones”!
With its new update 2024.8.4, Tesla promised many new features for users, starting with the reporting of these same danger zones. If some feared for the availability of this function in France, this is not the case, since it is indeed available.
Once the vehicle has been updated, the central control screen will display a new small icon, symbolizing the “ danger zone “.
In this way, as is the case with Waze, the driver can anticipate the presence of a possible radar. Please note that the system does not currently have any audible warning.
Matrix lights too (for Model 3 and Model Y)
Therefore, users must regularly glance at the screen in order to visualize a possible danger zone ahead. For some drivers, apart from this small specificity, this new update will provide significant comfort.
Note also that this function is not the only one included in this Tesla 2024.8.4 update, since the latter also allows the matrix lights to be activated. Note, however, that these are only available on the 2021 Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y (and more recent models).
Let us recall to conclude that due to their tendency to “ all touch », Tesla vehicles could soon be in great difficulty with regard to the crash tests carried out by the Euro NCAP organization. According to many observers, this tendency to favor a large touch screen to the detriment of traditional buttons would tend to increase the risk of accidents.
