Presented as the equivalent of traditional end-of-year updates, the Christmas update, this new version is a nice surprise. Although it is not yet available, Tesla plans its launch for this spring, the brand has already shared some details on the new features to expect.

A new interface when the vehicle is stationary

The update will notably provide a revised user interface for Model 3 and Y equipped with AMD chips, i.e. vehicles manufactured from 2022. So no more Tesla Model 3 and Y equipped with the Intel chip, which is a fragmentation.

As you can see, Tesla incorporates a new interface that will be visible only when the car is stopped, with expanded playback controls and quick access to recent items, favorites, as well as a smaller map for navigation while using Autopilot.

Very good news, sentinel mode will not only send an alert notification: you will also be able to see the videos captured live, to check if it is a false alert or not. Tesla specifies that this function will not be available in the countries, certainly because of regulations.

For Model X and S too, the most recent

The “Auto Shift Beta” function is new for recent versions of Model S and X. Those also equipped with an AMD chip.

It will allow automatic switching between forward and reverse driving modes depending on the environment, an addition that follows Tesla’s removal of manual shift control on some models, with the long-term goal of managing the shift of speed completely autonomously.

Tesla will also enrich its on-board software offering with the introduction of an application Audible dedicated (already available on Android Automotive) and an update of its Spotify application, which promises better synchronization of playlists between different devices and cars, as well as customization of playback speed.

The update will also introduce a “Hands-Free Trunk” feature for certain models, allowing automatic opening of the trunk by simply standing behind it with your phone key.

In addition to these additions, Tesla plans to optimize high-speed regenerative braking on certain models, which should improve range significantly.

Finally, to improve the rear passenger experience, current trip details, time and temperature will now be visible at the top of the rear touchscreen for equipped vehicles. Still on the Model S and X, the most recent.

Although Tesla did not specify the exact rollout date, this update is expected in the coming weeks. As usual, everything will be done via OTA update, directly in the car.
