Tesla will increase the price of its Model Y in Europe starting this week

With its sudden price drops, Tesla has often given its competitors a cold sweat. However, the electric car manufacturer also sometimes revises its prices upwards. This will be the case this week for the Model Y in “several European countries”announced Tesla’s account dedicated to Europe and the Middle East on X.

This increase, which will be effective Friday March 22, 2024, will amount to “around €2000 or the equivalent in local currency”, explains Tesla. We do not yet know which countries will be affected, but France could therefore be one of them. It also remains to be seen whether all versions of the Model Y will be affected. In the United States, Tesla increased the price of Model Y RWD and Long Range by $1,000 on March 1 and plans to increase the same amount on April 1.

In France, the Tesla Model Y is currently sold from €42,990 in the Propulsion version, the only one eligible for the €4,000 ecological bonus (€7,000 for the lowest-income households).

An increase in the price of the Model Y could give a little more leeway to its competitors, such as the Peugeot e-3008 sold from €44,990 excluding bonuses. A smaller vehicle with a higher price, it was until now difficult for the e-3008 to stand out when compared with Tesla’s electric SUV.
