Tesla has made slight changes to its French website thanks to which the price of the car can now fall below the ecological bonus election threshold.
Since the start of 2023, those who wish to treat themselves to a new vehicle can access an ecological bonus, the maximum amount of which has been revised downwards, to 5,000 euros. A sum which remains interesting and which makes it possible to reduce the often hefty bill for prestigious vehicles.
And among the models that will be available to you with this bonus, we can count on several Tesla vehicles today, thanks to a small change made by the manufacturer in the way it bills.
The options trick
This modification could almost have gone unnoticed, if it did not have so many implications. From today, Teslas put on sale on the brand’s French portal have their price divided between a base price and options to add, all giving the amount of the final invoice. A grooming that has nothing cosmetic.
Indeed, thanks to this new way of presenting prices, certain Model 3s and Model Ys see their base price fall below 47,000 euros, the threshold below which the consumer will be able to benefit from the ecological bonus of 5,000 euros. For those who want an example, the Model Y Propulsion sees its price increase to €45,990, then the buyer is responsible for choosing paint, rims or a tow hook which will increase the price.
A ploy perhaps temporary
This trick has been permitted since the publication of the decree of December 4, 2022 modifying the decree of 2017, which set out the rules for applying the ecological bonus. This text stipulates that the price taken into account for the calculation of the ecological bonus does not include “ non-intrinsic equipment of the vehicle, such as options », which justifies Tesla’s little manipulation. But then, why did you wait almost 10 months?
According to information collected by Frandroid, the manufacturers had asked for details on the nature of the excluded options, a response which only arrived recently. Please note that if you are interested in the opportunity, you should probably hurry. Because the ecological bonus underwent a modification on October 10, with the addition of a “minimum environmental score” criterion to benefit from this aid, a score that Tesla may not obtain. The list of vehicles meeting this criterion will be published on December 15. Suffice it to say that you have less than two months to get started!
