TEST Elden Ring: paradise also on PS4 and Xbox One?

Elden Ring is in the spotlight, the baby of FromSoftware finally hits our shelves. The title invites itself on the consoles of Sony Interactive Entertainmentof Microsoft and on PC. Of course, we also looked at the “old gen” edition, since we were curious to see what it looks like ; we won’t go back on this epic and incredible adventure (you can take a look at our big impressions: TEST Elden Ring: lose your life to earn it). So what gives?

Go ahead and discover the lands of the Underworld.

First observation, there are no visual parameters, so it is not possible to choose between quality or performance. The developers therefore impose a unique rendering on us. Verdict? It’s really not bad. So certainly, it’s not as flashy as on PS5 or Xbox Series, the image is slightly blurred (lower resolution?), but the graphics still have something to tickle the peepers ; thank you especially the artistic direction which is a real eye-catcher.

Then the frame rate varies a lot. Elden Ring runs within 30 fps, it shows, but the frame rate seems to increase at times, mainly when there are not many elements on the screen. The backgrounds are a little empty, the textures load slowly in the background and there is also a bit of clippingbut sincerely, the title is very pleasant to watch. Another striking point, we did not notice any loading time during our escapades and that is a good point. These appear only after a death or during a teleport from one place to another and are a bit long.

Finally, let’s talk about HDR, you know, this technology that allows you to have almost realistic light effects to get your jaws dropping. Well, don’t activate it! Not that it’s bad, it’s just that the game starts to slow down wildly, to the point of having frame jumps depending on the situation, and it is not conceivable with a production requiring a minimum of fingering and requirement during the confrontations. Really a shame for once, because the artistic direction is embellished with elaborate lighting.

Elden Ring on PS4 and Xbox One is a pearl not to be missed, so go and discover the lands ofbetween-earthyour little gamer heart will thank you.
