TEST The Sims 4 Carnival outfits: a trip to Rio de Janeiro… or not?

Always wanting to be more inclusive, The Sims 4 collaborated this time with Brazilian drag queen Pabllo Vittar to offer us an eccentric and joyful kit. Mardi Gras approaching, this kit falls rather well in terms of timing. However, who says carnival says Rio de Janeiro, especially with the collaboration of a Brazilian drag queen. And who says Rio de Janeiro says feathers, sequins and rhinestones, in particular the famous alluring and emblematic Brazilian carnival outfits with their huge wheels of colorful feathers and their ever more exuberant headdresses…

The feather is in the spotlight.

First of all, you should know that the outfits and accessories available with this kit do not concern than adults. At the same time, a Brazilian carnival is quite sexy. Nevertheless, no new hairstyles on the horizon, not even a pretty feathered headdress, which is a little disappointing. On the other hand, the two new eye shadows available are magnificent and very well worked, with very bright and colorful tones while offering a slightly softer black and white version which is suitable for more situations. As for accessories, the feather is in the spotlight. We can adorn our sims an adornment with matching earrings and necklace in the shape of a feather, including the multicolored tones match the mood of the kit well. In addition, the developers have done a great job of defining these two accessories. We can also make them wear a small pair of heart-shaped glasses, more typical of the 70s than of the Brazilian carnival, but so be it. It blends in relatively well with the style of the kit.

With regard to outfits, whether feminine or masculine, it is certain thatthey do not lack color and originality. Most of them are well drawn, although the fishnet texture leaves a bit to be desired when zoomed in to the max. The tropical and animal prints remind us of the spirit of the kit and are quite harmonious overall. However, if some pieces are wonderfully cut and shimmering, others leave us a little dubious… Of course, we can use several tops and shorts in the everyday life of our sims, but aren’t they too “simple” for a carnival themed kit ? These pieces make us think more of festival outfits rather than carnival. They are nonetheless well cut and full of color, especially the dresses and the top encrusted with sublime jewels.

If you’ve been looking for feather wheels and extravagant headpieces, you might be disappointed. On the other hand, this kit offers great outfitsrather festival, with shimmering textures, well-crafted prints and vibrant colors.
