Because of persistent persecution, a Klagenfurt man had to answer at the regional court on Wednesday morning. The worker sent his ex-girlfriend up to 167 messages a week.
It took a total of 502 messages for a woman from Klagenfurt to decide to report her ex-boyfriend. And the public prosecutor’s office promptly brought charges against the Klagenfurt resident, who finally had to answer before judge Michaela Sanin on Wednesday morning. Defendant is remorseful: “It was a mistake. I recognize my wrongdoing,” the worker said to Sanin during the questioning. He just wanted to find out how their daughter was doing. “The messages can also be seen as quite polite. “Normally we get to read completely different things here,” explains Ms. Rat: “But it’s the quantity that matters.” After all, the defendant sent a total of 502 messages to his ex-partner over a period of five months. “For the most part it was just about our daughter,” says the Klagenfurt resident ruefully. But because of the volume, Judge Sanin saw little room for maneuver. She sentenced the worker to a ten-month conditional sentence. He also has to pay his ex-girlfriend 200 euros in compensation. “You have to get the communication under control about your child,” said Sanin when the verdict was announced. The verdict is not final because the public prosecutor’s office made no statement.
