INTERVIEW

He had made himself known by winning season 4 of the star Academy in 2004. He then recorded an album which included his most famous song, Write the story. Grégory Lemarchal died on April 30, 2007, at the age of 24, as a result of cystic fibrosis. Fifteen years later, the TF1 group pays tribute to him this weekend with the rebroadcast of the film why i live, on TMC Sunday at 9:05 p.m. All weekend, calls for donations will also be made for the Grégory Lemarchal association, created by the singer’s parents to help patients with cystic fibrosis.

A strong link between the TF1 group and the Grégory Lemarchal association

“It’s important because TF1 has always been with us from the start. For 15 years, they have always helped us to advance the schmilblick”, explains to Europe 1 Pierre Lemarchal, Grégory’s father. “In this type of association, we always need the media. And as long as we can have them, it’s exceptional. We are lucky to have a heartfelt partnership with the TF1 group. It’s a loyalty that touches us, they have always responded.”

“For the tenth anniversary of the association, we did a prime time show which allowed us to collect 2.2 million euros in donations,” he recalls. “This sum allowed us to build a reception center in Rueil-Malmaison, a project that the association had had for a long time. The interest is also to explain to people what we do with their money.”

A short but intense career

Among the tributes paid to the singer on these channels, Nikos will devote a subject to the association on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in 50 minutes Inside. One of Grégory Lemarchal’s most emblematic concerts will be rebroadcast Sunday evening at midnight on TMC.

“Grégory’s strongest moment on television was when he interpreted SOS a landowner in distress. It’s a moment that comes up often. When he sang this song, I saw myself coming out of me”, remembers the singer’s father at our microphone. “There were other strong moments, like when he sang And now by Gilbert Bécaud during the final of the star Academy. There was above all the pride of seeing our son sing at the Olympia. He had a short career, but he made the most of the time he had to say things.”
