(Boursier.com) — Thales and its partners GeoSat, Setec Ferroviaire, Clearsy and the New Aquitaine Region, united within the NS2F consortium, are developing a simplified, digital and innovative signaling and operating system. The NS2F “New Frugal Rail Signaling” consortium is entering the contracting phase with ADEME. This system will make it possible to revitalize the fine service of the territories by the small lines and to improve safety, in particular at level crossings.

The development of this system is accompanied by a guarantee of interoperability with the structuring network, and reductions in investment and operating costs of more than 30%.

The amount of aid voted by the France 2030 Committee for the financing of the NS2F project amounts to 7.16 million euros. The ambition of the consortium is to carry out this project in less than 36 months.

Remember that the NS2F consortium is already involved with the SNCF in the Innovative Light Train project, for the reconfiguration of mobility needs in the territories and the revitalization of the Fine Service Lines of the Territory. The objective is that the railway operation of these 12,000 km lines with advanced obsolescence must once again become economically sustainable and attractive for travellers.
