Thales: offers the digital transport ticket in Jakarta

(CercleFinance.com) – Alongside its partners in the Jatelindo consortium, Thales announces that it has developed and delivered an Account-based ticketing (ABT) and Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) digital ticket solution .intended for the metropolitan area of Jakarta (Indonesia).
The project is part of the Indonesian central government’s drive to digitize the public transport system in its cities and provinces.

Jakarta’s transport development plan plans to achieve 60% use of public transport for all trips, but also to extend its coverage area to 80% of all roads in the metropolitan area of Jakarta by 2029.

The ABT solution makes it possible to manage traveler profiles in a centralized back-office, which will help authorities to implement more attractive fare policies and subsidize public transport, says Thales.

Eventually, the ticketing solution, entirely centered on the back office, should make it possible to process up to five million transactions per day.

‘The integrated technology will encourage users to take public transport and will make travel more comfortable in the world’s third largest megalopolis, which has more than 31 million inhabitants,’ says Olivier Rabourdin, Country Director, Thales in Indonesia.
