Thales: successful launch for an Indonesian satellite – 06/19/2023 at 09:50

(CercleFinance.com) – Thales announced on Monday the successful launch of the very high-speed telecommunications satellite Satria, intended to reduce the digital divide in Indonesia.

The spacecraft was successfully launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

With a capacity of 150 gigabits per second, the device must provide high-speed Internet access to thousands of islands in the Indonesian archipelago.

The device notably aims to connect hundreds of thousands of areas, including thousands of schools, hospitals and public buildings, as well as regional government sites not connected by existing satellite or terrestrial infrastructures.

The manufacture of the satellite had been entrusted to Thales Alenia Space, the joint company between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), by the consortium Satelit Nusantara Tiga (SNT) on behalf of the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Technology Information (Kominfo).
