(CercleFinance.com) – Thales announces that the SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography) satellite has been successfully launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg military launch base (VSFB) in California.
SWOT is a joint CNES and NASA mission, with the collaboration of the Canadian (CSA) and British (UKSA) space agencies.
Thales Alenia Space (Thales 67% and Leonardo 33%) is the major industrial partner of this mission dedicated to measuring the surface water level of lakes and rivers, the flow of rivers and to the fine and precise determination ocean topography.
