A week later, it was in the columns of this same newspaper that he reacted to this beautiful distinction. As he usually does, the singer did not fail to use irony. “I was very honored and proud when I learned about it. But I’m not going to jump in either: the disease must have weighed in. So, thank you again, cancer!”, he said, laughing. As a reminder, since January 2022, Florent Pagny has been fighting lung cancer. After having had to face several recurrences, he announced on the set of 8 p.m. on TF1, opposite Gilles Bouleau, on November 16, 2023, to be in remission. Still, he didn’t want to appear too confident. “For the third time, it disappears, but hey, it’s still three times that it appears, so I’m not going to claim victory too much”he declared.

At the start of 2024, when he returned to Patagonia with his wife, Azucena Caamaño, the 62-year-old artist wants to be a voice for all sick people. “I see this from the numerous testimonies I receive from patients: it is as if I had taken on the role of a clairvoyant, even if I do not get up in the morning trying to tell my story about the illness”he said again, explaining that those close to the sick cannot understand how difficult cancer is to live with. “You have to be directly affected by this problem to understand it. We enter another dimension.” If today he needs to find a little carefreeness again, he knows that everything can change overnight. Moreover, on January 15 he will have to carry out a new check which could call everything into question. “Even though I have gotten used to getting better, a simple check can suddenly reshuffle the cards”he added while he plans to find his audience again in 2026.
