Thanks to this new feature, Garmin watches and GPS are even more practical for your cycling outings

Connected watches and GPS meters from Garmin are now compatible with Komoot map navigation. It is therefore possible to display this type of interface directly on your Garmin device. Even those who initially have no capacity in this area.

Garmin is one of the great references in terms of connected watches and GPS meters. Good news: these devices are enriched with a new function and can now run Komoot’s map navigation. As a reminder, Komoot is a very popular application – more than 10 million downloads on the PlayStore – dedicated to planning routes for cyclists and hikers.

An important condition to respect

In an official press release, Komoot says that Garmin’s Edge, Fenix, Vivoactive, Series Venu and Forerunner devices are compatible with its GPS feature. But where the pair is strong is that even devices with no integrated navigation capability are eligible for this function. Very practical, in short.

However, two things must be respected: correctly download the Komoot Connect IQ application on your Garmin device, but also and above all subscribe to Komoot Premium, which costs the sum of 59.99 euros per year. In doing so, you will have access to Komoot’s map interface as well as its features.

Synchronizing route changes

The brand notably mentions offline navigation, Zoom&Move, dark mode and even driving information (speed, distance, power, cadence). It is also possible to modify your route from the Komoot application, which will automatically synchronize with your Garmin device – provided you have an internet connection.

To benefit from it – in addition to the subscription conditions to be respected – simply select the Komoot card when you start your hike or electric or muscle bike outing. The application will indeed give you the choice between this option, and the native Garmin map. It is also possible to modify your preferences directly from the settings.
