At its press conference yesterday, the Federal Council announced: The current corona measures will be “provisionally” extended until the end of March – at least most of them. The home office and quarantine obligation, on the other hand, should already be removed from the list of measures at the end of February.
Where does the Federal Council’s optimism come from, with almost 40,000 new infections? “I think we are on the threshold of an endemic situation,” said Health Minister Alain Berset (49).
“Makes no sense”
What makes some happy, others get annoyed. “It is wrong that the quarantine and home office obligation will fall at the end of February,” says reader Marc Moeri.
Berset has emphasized that the federal government would constantly review the measures, but new easing will only be discussed on February 2nd.
Marc Gutzwiller does not entirely agree with the changes to the measures either. He says: “From the end of February you no longer have to be in quarantine and can infect others with peace of mind. However, you are not allowed to take part in public life without a certificate until the end of March, as you could infect others. Makes a lot of sense…»
Should Switzerland simply be infected?
But not everyone is averse to the new measures. Heidi Keller even thinks it’s great! “The Federal Council is continuing on the path it has taken, without extreme measures, but with the necessary caution,” she explains.
Reader Monique Schmidli-Rieder also supports the measures. She is double vaccinated and already boosted. Nevertheless, she says: “Omicron would really be the chance to infect Switzerland with a relatively mild course.”
