the 70s make their comeback in decoration

Yesterday relayed to the attic, the decoration with psychedelic accents, is invited into the decor in 2022. Selection of objects to transform your interior into seventies decor.

While we thought they were definitely old-fashioned, the 70’s are making a comeback throughout the house. A comeback that has hints of safe haven and recklessness in these somewhat troubled times. We bring out the Tam-Tam stools, the opaline suspensions and the wallpapers with hypnotizing patterns to make them decorative objects in their own right.

What colors and patterns to adopt for a 70’s decor?
Attention, followers of minimalism and taupe shades, go your way!
As in the new opus of the series “Petits Meurtres d’Agatha Christie” (France 2), we immerse ourselves in a wave of warm and bright colors. Here a wallpaper with giant orange and yellow floral patterns, there an olive green wall highlighting purple decorative accessories and again a cushion displaying an accumulation of garish colors on a brown sofa. In the 70s we were not cold in the eyes and we accumulated, without really coherence, the colors one with the other. It’s up to you, but be careful not to overdo it so as not to overstep the borders of kitsch!

Key materials for a seventies interior
To this waltz of colors is added a mixture of materials. In the 70s, it was the advent of comfortable fabrics, such as corduroy – the undisputed star of interiors – and many materials with fleece effects. Maison also finds a flood of aged leather, raw wood and of course, plastic, in all its forms and in various colors. A material that at the time was not as much criticized as it is today!

Also essential is rattan, which owes its fame to the armchair of the scandalous Emmanuelle. It can be found on the coffee table in the living room, the bed in the youngest’s bedroom or even the pendant lights in the kitchen.

Note: a seventies interior must play on the motley mix of all these materials. So don’t hesitate to combine an armchair with a low velvet seat, a dark wood chest of drawers, coupled with a rattan magazine rack with a plastic mushroom lamp.

Fall for an iconic piece
A prosperous period of the Trente-Glorieuses, the 1970s set up many decorative pieces as an icon. The famous Tam Tam stool and its hourglass look, the Togo by Ligne Roset and its low seat or the egg chair are, even today, essential pieces of our interiors.

Go back to the seventies!
