All nightclubs will no longer have to limit their clientele to three quarters of their capacity, the government announced Thursday, November 11. The measure against Covid-19, in force since the summer, was, in fact, already repealed in most of the country.
A decree published in Official newspaper removed a previous provision, taken in June, which imposed a gauge of 75% on a category of establishments including discotheques and concert halls accommodating the public standing. At the time, this measure accompanied the long-awaited reopening of these establishments.
The discotheque sector was particularly affected by the health crisis, as it was the only one to have been forced, for more than a year, to close without interruption, in contrast, in particular, with bars and restaurants.
The limitation to 75% therefore appeared to be a lesser evil for the sector. But, anyway, it then largely became obsolete: the vast majority of departments have removed it at the local level.
The Ministry of Culture clarified that this gauge was no longer mandatory in “80%” departments in early November, evoking a “Clarification” with the measure announced this Thursday, while the epidemic is in the recovery phase.
Increase in new contaminations
Faced with the epidemic rebound, Emmanuel Macron spoke to the French on Tuesday evening to talk about the health situation, in particular putting pressure on seniors to be injected with a booster dose, on pain of losing their health pass .
“The fifth wave has started in Europe, in the United Kingdom, in Germany, where more than 30,000 additional new cases are recorded every day”, noted the Head of State, who argued a “More favorable situation in France”, however, with a 40% increase in the incidence rate in one week.
More than 11,000 new Covid-19 contaminations have been recorded in the last 24 hours, according to Public Health France, Wednesday, after 12,000 the day before. This is the highest level reached since the beginning of September.
