The Olympic Works Delivery Company (Solideo), responsible for building the permanent works for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, has completed its budget for the year and recorded 140.1 million euros in additional inflation costs, according to a statement released Friday.

Affected by the rise in prices in construction and raw materials but also by “the disorganization of supply chains”, Solideo was considering an additional cost of around 150 million euros. It is therefore a little below at 140.1 million euros, bringing the public share to 1.711 billion euros.

In July 2021, Solideo had already revised its budget due to inflation, leading to an increase in the public part of 175 million euros from 1.38 billion to 1.55 billion euros.

To absorb the inflation of 2022, an envelope of 61.3 million euros was voted in the 2023 finance bill. The State supports two-thirds and the communities one-third. The department of Seine-Saint-Denis recently indicated that it was putting an extension of 8.1 million euros.

“We will be well able to deliver the works on time, within the fixed costs and within the strong ambitions that we have determined”, welcomed the general manager Nicolas Ferrand quoted by the press release. As in recent months, Solideo explained on Friday to remain within the outline of the envelope set “in constant euros excluding 2016 taxes”.

As of Friday, Solideo’s budget, in the broad sense, is around 4.4 billion euros. To the 1.7 billion in public money (State and local authorities) are added 2 billion in private investments (revenue from land charges for example), to which are added additional investments which do not always pass through Solideo but are linked to the Olympic Games. (100 million) or for their inheritance (400 million from local authorities and 200 million from private funding).

The Organizing Committee for the Olympics (Cojo), whose budget is 96% private, voted on December 19 a budget up 10% to 4.4 billion euros, an increase half of which comes from the inflation (195 million).
