The parade in swimsuits, the criteria to be able to participate, the level of the general culture test… The Miss France beauty contest is increasingly criticized and singled out for its misogynistic and macho practices, but also on all the restrictions which apply to Miss before and after the contest.
Once again, the beauty pageant has suffered since its broadcast on Saturday evening a wave of hateful comments on social networks. This time, the organization and its committee are accused of racism, after the hairdresser of the competition has swapped the beautiful curly hair of Ambre Andrieu (Miss Aquitaine) for coarse waves of a rather dubious taste, it is necessary to admit it. Internet users, surprised to say the least, were unanimous: in addition to not highlighting the Miss, this hairstyle “destroyed” her true nature of hair, she who usually proudly wears her afro hairstyle.
More and more recurring criticisms
This is not the first time that the Miss France committee has received negative comments on the transformation of an afro hairstyle from a participant. In 2017, Miss Martinique’s hair was smoothed out. Why is it so easy to style straight hair natures and such a hair challenge to take care of curly hair in the Miss France pageant?
