A little known technique but which is devilishly effective for having radiant plants in your apartment or house.
This is a trick that will surprise more than one and leave others skeptical. However, it turns out to be quite effective. A few weeks or months after buying a houseplant, you realize that, despite the sun and regular watering, it does not have its bright appearance from the start. Caring for the latter can be harder than expected.
In addition to their basic needs, your plant should also be cleaned from time to time. Indeed, a small pile of dust gradually settles on the leaves, limiting its ability to absorb sunlight and carbon dioxide. This directly affects photosynthesis. Also aesthetically, indoor plants are less beautiful and duller!
Cleaning with mayonnaise sauce
To restore it to its former radiant appearance, use mayonnaise. It may sound implausible, but it is nevertheless the best way to clean the leaves. Start by placing a dab of mayonnaise on a plate and adding a little water to obtain a liquid consistency. Then dip a clean cotton cloth in the solution and wipe the top of the plant’s foliage with it. The dusty layer will disappear and it will give your houseplant a second wind. Also, do not forget to wipe the leaves well so as not to leave traces of mayonnaise on the surface.
The vinegar in the sauce makes it a formidable cleaning agent while traces of vegetable oil and egg yolks add shine. This product helps you remove sap or identify any developing disease. Attention ! This technique is effective for indoor plants only. Outdoor plants exposed to the sun could be irritated by the reaction of the mayonnaise to UV rays.
