On the occasion of its tenth anniversary, the Apple Watch could well mark the beginning of a new era of connected watches.

To do this, Apple intends to propose a large number of changes.

There is movement on the Apple Watch side

Since the launch of the first iteration of Apple Watch in 2015, the Apple brand has never stopped evolving its range of connected watches. Each year, like its iPhone, the Cupertino company comes back with a new version with new features. But last year, Apple finally decided to think outside the box by marketing the Apple Watch Ultra, a high-end version intended primarily for athletes. This should also soon welcome an heiress, the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which would then be lighter and would be based on titanium materials.

However, the launch date of the latter is still a real mystery to this day. According to the elements at our disposal, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 could have been the first device in the range to accommodate a micro-LED screen. Nevertheless, we learned a few days ago thanks to the company TrendForce that this micro-LED technology would not make its debut before 2026 on the side of the firm of Tim Cook. These statements, however, do not seem to coincide with the information freshly shared by a journalist well known to apple customers…

Design, screen, launch… what to expect from the Apple Watch X?

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, this year, Apple will indeed market an Apple Watch Series 9, contrary to what previous rumors suggested. It would also benefit from a faster processor. Still according to the journalist, Apple would like to think big for the launch of the Apple Watch X. Scheduled for 2024, or even 2025 (just to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the Apple Watch), this iteration would be presented as Apple Watch’s biggest overhaul in design and functionality.

First, we learn that the Apple Watch X would have a brand new magnetic attachment system for attaching bracelets. This would make it possible, in addition to reducing the size of the watch, to save space in order to reinforce the battery, or to slip other components into it. The connected watch would be significantly thinner and would offer a blood pressure sensor. Finally, according to Gurman, it will obviously not be necessary to wait until 2026 to see an Apple device equipped with micro-LED technology since the screen of the Apple Watch X should logically be equipped with it.

2024? 2025? For now, it is unfortunately impossible to determine when exactly the Apple Watch X will see the light of day. However, there is now no longer any doubt that the Californian brand will take advantage of this tenth iteration to finally propose significant changes to the design of its connected watches.

Apple Watch Ultra

  • An XXL and ultra-bright screen
  • A truly reinforced shockproof design
  • Autonomy of almost 2 days, never seen on an Apple Watch

With the Apple Watch Ultra, the Californian manufacturer enters the already hotly contested sector of sports watches, and for this first, the brand makes a strong impression.

With its reinforced design, an ever more powerful speaker and its ultra-bright and gigantic 49 mm screen, the Apple Watch has never been so redesigned. The action button, fully customizable, will allow divers, mountaineers and all thrill seekers to access the most important application or functionality during their expeditions. The detection of car accidents as well as a high-performance GPS complete a technical sheet that is already as long as your arm.

The Apple Watch Ultra also impresses with its 36-hour battery life, and 60 hours with power saving mode. Even if the connected watch from Apple does less well than many of its competitors, it is still twice as good as a simple classic Apple Watch and should be enough for many buyers.

The Apple Watch Ultra is probably the most advanced connected watch Apple has ever made, but also a real niche product that clearly won’t suit everyone, both for its very thick format and for its price of almost 1,000 euros. To be reserved for the most assiduous athletes who will be able to take advantage of all the services imagined by the brand.
