The Audi Q6 e-tron will be the first of ten new electric models planned by 2025


Audi is fine-tuning its future Q6 e-tron electric SUV before it goes into production. If the manufacturer does not provide technical details for the moment and only presents it camouflaged, it nevertheless communicates on the platform. The Q6 e-tron will therefore be the brand’s first SUV to be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) developed jointly with Porsche, which will serve as the basis for the future electric Macan.

In addition to its 800-volt architecture intended to reduce charging times, the manufacturer has announced that it will deploy its future SUV in fastback and standard hatch bodies. According to the release, the future Q6 e-tron marks “the next major step in the electrification and digitalization of the Audi model range.” The manufacturer is indeed working on new battery charge management software, and on a new user interface.

The launch of the future Q6 e-tron, scheduled for 2023, is being organized in a favorable context. The carmaker saw its turnover increase by 16.4% in 2022, reaching a record of 61.8 billion euros, while operating profit soared by almost 40% to reach an all-time high of 7.6 billion euros.

In 2023, Audi intends to launch “the largest product campaign in the company’s history”starting with the upcoming Q6 e-tron model series. “Our Vorsprung 2030 strategy provides the right answers, even in times of multiple crises”assures Markus Duesmann, CEO of Audi. “We focus Audi on sustainability and are systematically advancing the digitalization and electrification of our products.”

Twenty new vehicles are expected by 2025, 10 of which will be 100% electric. The Audi Q6 e-tron will be the first of these.

With an increase of around 44% in deliveries of fully electric cars (118,196 cars), the group is continuing its electrification strategy. Against the backdrop of strong demand, the share of fully electric vehicles delivered increased from 4.8% in 2021 to 7.2% in 2022. Audi sees the launch of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) as a key part of the expansion of its range.
