the best for the load, but still insufficient

The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro would see their battery size and charging power increase. In addition, Wi-Fi 7 would be included.

Leak after leak, the face of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro is starting to take shape. Since the Pixel 6, Google seems to be betting on minor developments. Android Authority, whose work on this new generation of Pixel is to be welcomed, claims to have put its hands on the battery and charging specifications of Google’s future flagships. The specialized site claims to draw its information from an internal source at Google.

On autonomy, everything would be a little better, but not much more

Hang on tight, the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro would each gain 4W of charging power. I know, it shocks the first time you read it. In detail, the Pixel 8 would go from 20 W on the Pixel 7 to 24 W. The Pixel 8 Pro would go to 27 W against 23 W on the previous model. We would therefore remain very far from the impressive charging capacities of Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus or Vivo.

In addition, the battery capacity would increase from 4270 mAh to 4485 mAh on the Pixel 8, an increase of 5% all the same. The Pixel 8 Pro for its part would gain only 24 small mAh to increase to 4950 mAh. Wireless charging would retain its previous capabilities. We would stay on 23 W with Google’s proprietary charger and 12 W in Qi.

The revelations ofAndroid Authority don’t stop there. According to the publication, the two smartphones would switch to Wi-Fi 7. Google has indeed decided to change its Broadcom chip responsible for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Pixel 6 and 7 shared the same model, BCM4389. We would go here to a more recent model, BCM 4398, supporting Wi-Fi 7. Be careful however, this standard has not yet been finalized.
