The best Peruvian restaurants in Lyon and Paris

Many very mixed South American addresses have emerged over the past ten years in France. Some had to close (like the Goustô, in Nice, or L’Inca, in Lille), while Peruvian restaurants and cevicherias multiplied, mainly in Paris. Here is our selection to have the chance to test authentic flavors.

In 2019, chef Carlos Camino added to his Lyon-starred table (Miraflores) a tavern decorated with a majestic wall fresco, offering small, affordable traditional dishes (between 9.5 and 19.50 euros). On the menu there are tasty anticuchos (beef heart skewers, stars of Peruvian street food), ceviches that change according to the season or even spicy empanadas.

112, boulevard des Belges 69006 Lyon.

This small inn – about fifty seats including the room in the basement – is an institution run by Lourdes Pluvinage, which has been fighting hard to impose the gastronomy of its native country for nearly thirty years in France. Let yourself be tempted by the trilogy of Peruvian classics (20 euros) combining aji de gallina (minced chicken in a slightly spicy sauce), seco de cordero (fabulous leg of lamb macerated in beer wrapped in a coriander sauce) and ceviche de pato (duck breast with lime).

9, rue Lacépède 75005 Paris.

If your budget allows it, enter this temple created by Gaston Acurio and run by its executive chef Ruben Escudero. Here we savor dishes “good as there”, such as lomo saltado (42 euros): Charolais beef fillet – the chef refuses to shop on the South American continent – served with soy sauce, onion, cilantro and chili peppers. But the chef also does not hesitate to prepare less expected delicacies such as these scallops with chalaca sauce (onion, tomato, aji limo pepper, coriander) priced at 24 euros. Lunch menu around 25 euros.

15, avenue Montaigne 75008 Paris.

The ideal spot for going out with friends, mixing warm service, sunny playlists and affordable prices. Chef José Arias, who has lived in France for fourteen years, uses his knowledge of French gastronomic techniques to enhance Peruvian specialties. In addition to the clasico ceviche (14 euros), we recommend the causa rellena de pollo (12 euros), a mashed potato and its shredded chicken to share and the tasty lomo saltado (28 euros here).

2, rue Frochot 75009 Paris.
