Penny, played by Kaley Cuoco for twelve seasons, is one of the main characters – and one of the most popular – on “The Big Bang Theory” and her partner had no idea!
The final episode of The Big Bang Theory aired on CBS in 2018. Alongside Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Penny was one of the central characters of the hit sitcom: The New Girl (at first ) neighbor of the scientific roommates, the one who will change their lives forever. And who says Penny, says Kaley Cuoco: when we think of the actress, it is now this role that comes directly to mind, a role yet unknown to her companion, the actor Tom Pelphrey (Ozark)…
In an interview with W Magazine, the latter admitted that he had no idea exactly why his partner was so famous and that at the start of their relationship, he could not explain why the little her mother’s friend had suddenly started calling Kaley, Penny.
“I’m sorry, I don’t understand what’s going on! Why does he keep calling you Penny ?” Pelphrey reportedly asked Kaley Cuocowith whom he has been dating since 2022. She finally explained to him: “That’s my character from The Big Bang Theory!’”

Tom Pelphrey finally ended up watching a few episodes of the show. “She’s fantastic, of course”, declared the actor who himself has appeared in numerous television productions, including Ozarkand had a small role in David Fincher’s Mank in 2020. “I live in a cave! Before meeting Kaley, I lived in upstate New York, on a dirt road, in the middle of the woods, and without stable WiFi. It was she who brought me into modern times.”

Over the seasons, the character of Penny has evolved to take on more and more depth. Essential to the sitcom, fans absolutely can’t imagine it without Kaley Cuoco. Even former CBS executive Nina Tassler said The Big Bang Theory could never have happened without the actress.
Recently, we were able to find Kaley Cuoco in the series The Flight Attendant for which she was nominated twice for the Emmys and the Golden Globes. In 2023, the actress also starred in the series Based on a True Story opposite Chris Messina and Jason Bateman and lent her voice to Harley Quinn in the DC series of the same name. We will soon be able to discover her in a brand new role in the thriller Role Play, which will be available on January 13 on Canal+.
