A difficult investigation
Kiely disappeared when she had just sent a final message to her mother, telling her that she was about to go home. But she never arrived. According to “Sun,” men in their late 20s were giving away free drugs, including mushrooms and cocaine, to attendees at the party where Kiely was last spotted. In addition, the authorities said during their investigation that they had recovered CCTV images showing the teenager, on the Friday evening of her disappearance, around 6:30 p.m., in a shop in Truckee, where the party was taking place. The images had been released, in particular by the FBI. Faced with a lack of information, the police complained about the lack of cooperation of those present at the party. Between 100 and 300 people attended the evening.
