At the end of 2023, Google rolled out a new design for Chrome which, for once, was inspired by its Material You philosophy. While some changes are welcome, many users have complained about this new version, even looking to go back to the old one. We can understand them. By seeking to simplify its interface, Google has made some questionable choices, which cause its browser to lose ergonomics.

It is particularly surprising to note that the button to cast a website has disappeared. This very practical feature deserves quick access to improve fluidity. However, Google has chosen to hide it in a series of submenus. If you no longer find this option since the update, don’t panic: it has not disappeared. It’s just harder to find.

Where is the button to cast Google Chrome?

Previously, the button Caster was located directly in the side menu, which is opened by clicking on the three buttons at the top right of the window. From now on, you will have to dig into an additional submenu. To cast Google Chrome, you must now go to Settings > Save & Share > Cast. If you’re on a laptop, you may even have to scroll a bit in the menu to find this section.

Note also that another functionality has been added to this menu. It is Create a QR code, which allows you to quickly share a web page on a smartphone. Previously, this option was on the search bar, next to the button to add a page to favorites. If Chrome now benefits from a lighter interface, we can ask ourselves the question of ergonomics. We may not be a few clicks away.
