The cake academy: who are the teachers accompanying Cyril Lignac?

From this Monday, May 23, Cyril Lignac kicks off his Cake Academy on M6 at 6:40 p.m. His goal ? Help amateur pastry chefs to make their passion their profession. For this he will be accompanied by two teachers. Presentations.

It’s a story of passion and transmission. From this Monday, May 23, Cyril Lignac opens the doors of his cake academy. In this competition broadcast daily on M6 at 6.40 p.m., the famous chef takes on the role of director of an institute. He will welcome 24 amateur pastry chefs who want to make their passion their profession. A real change of life awaits them, and in particular the winner since he will notably obtain a position within the teams of Cyril Lignac. But to train them and make them progress, these students will not only be helped by Cyril Lignac or the 21 great chefs who will come to challenge them and provide them with masterclasses. Throughout the adventure, they will also be accompanied by two head teachers. They are Ophélie Barès and Desty Brami.

After several experiences in palaces – notably at the Plaza Athénée with Christophe Michalak or as pastry chef at the George V – Desty Brami has been executive pastry chef at the Château de Ferrières for six years. When M6 approached him to participate in this show, Desty Brami did not hesitate for long. “It’s an extension of what I do on a daily basis.“, he explains to us. And to detail: “I have students who join my operational teams, whether in the shop or the restaurants“. Above all, he loves to pass on his knowledge. So becoming a teacher in Cyril Lignac’s cake academyit was obvious“. And the least we can say is that he was delighted to discover the 24 amateur pastry chefs who took on this challenge. “We put them against the wall. They are really diligent and each have their own universe. And they manage each time to go up a notch. I think it did them good in their learning“, analyzes the chef, who believes he has observed a “very big development” during the competition.

Why the face of Ophélie Barès is not unknown to you

Same story on the side of Ophélie Barès who also worked in luxury hotels for a long time, before becoming the executive chef of Christophe Michalak in his boutiques. However, Ophelie Barès was “not necessarily destined to make pastry my job“, admits the one who obtained a general baccalaureate. A passion that she wants to pass on today. Something to remind him of his own past experience. “I have fond memories of my pastry technology teacher at Ferrandi. who taught me to do all the basics and my first internship which was the trigger. I acquired all my basics at Le Meurice alongside Camille Lesecq and that was my background for the future.“, she tells us with tenderness. This young mother therefore has “didn’t hesitate for a second“to become a teacher with these candidates whom she grades”their evolution“.

It was very dazzling. For some, they went from very housekeeping to very professional in a very short time. By dint of giving them advice, being behind them, not giving up, it paid off“she who is rejoices”very happy and very proud to have been able to give them sound advice that will serve them later“. But his face may not be unfamiliar to you. And for good reason, she has already been a guest juror on The best pastry chef. Above all, it was in 2014 in the France 2 professional competition that the general public discovered her. Ophélie Barès has indeed participated and won the second season of Who will be the next great pastry chef?, under the proud gaze of Philippe Urraca, Pierre Marcolini, Christophe Adams and a certain… Christophe Michalak, whose teams she then joined. A nice way to come full circle.
