The Callisto Protocol is no longer set in the PUBG universe

When it was announced in 2020, The Callisto Protocol, the new horror game from the creator of Dead Space, Glen Schofield, explained that this one takes place in the same universe as PUBG, about 300 years after the period in which we find ourselves in the battle royale. At the time, the studio clarified that ties could be found with PUBG, but ultimately, we won’t see anything.

Glen Schofield indeed claimed, on his Twitter account, that The Callisto Protocol no longer had any connection to PUBG. He now has ” its own history and its own world “, although no details have been given to this change of direction, which is not formalized until a few months of its supposed exit.

Does this change occur following a disagreement between the companies? Or is the PUBG brand not as attractive as it was two years ago? This choice can also be explained by the transition to free-to-play of the battle royale and the abandonment, it seems, of the lore, which had been strongly put forward for a time, before being abandoned.

In any case, we will soon know a little more about The Callisto Protocol, which should arrive at the end of 2022, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. We will find ourselves in a post-apocalyptic future, stuck on a planet inhabited by a strange creature. This is a 100% single-player narrative horror game.
