The celebrations of the weekend – Big victories for Orlik, Staudenmann and Aeschbacher – Sport

  • Armon Orlik wins all 6 courses in Mollis/GL and deservedly wins the Northeastern Switzerland sub-association festival.
  • Fabian Staudenmann and Matthias Aeschbacher cheer at the Bernese Cantonal Wrestling Festival in Tramelan.
  • In Obergösgen, the winner of the Solothurn Cantonal is Nick Alpiger.

13 of a maximum of 14 minutes were over at the north-east Swiss wrestling festival in the final round between Armon Orlik and Domenic Schneider when the two finalists got together again. Schneider was under pressure because he needed a win to triumph. Orlik was able to remain defensive, because one rack was enough for him to win the festival.

So Schneider took a lot of risk and made a decision – and practically lay himself on his back in the sawdust. That was the decision. Orlik was able to celebrate his 20th victory, the fourth at a Northeastern Swiss association festival.

Orlik is a deserved winner. The man from Graubünden won all his courses and scored 59.50 out of a possible 60.00 points. With Pirmin Reichmuth, Stefan Burkhalter, Patrick Schenk and Schneider, he bedded four Swiss in the sawdust. “Everything went well today. It went perfectly,” Orlik cheered.

Staudenmann remains undefeated

At the other part of the association festival on Sunday – the Bernisch-Kantonales in Tramelan – Fabian Staudenmann got another win. In the final he defeated his Bernese association colleague Kilian Wenger and secured his fifth Kranzfest triumph this season. Staudenmann has not lost a single one of his 54 courses this year.

Staudenmann shares the festival victory with Matthias Aeschbacher, who scored the same number of points (58.50). Aeschbacher secured rank 1b thanks to a final ten against Martin Hersche. Wenger, the wrestler king of 2010, was classified on the shared 4th place.

At the Solothurn Cantonal Festival in Obergösgen, Nick Alpiger (59.25) triumphed with a whopping 1.75 points ahead of his final opponent, Sinisha Lüscher.
