At a time when homes have put up their Christmas trees and the holidays are just around the corner, let’s take the time to spend a few minutes with a personality. For this end of the year, Gala.fr asked several stars to talk about Christmas. A souvenir, a gift… Let’s forget the time for an interview this year which was rich in emotions. Helene of Fougerollesseen recently in the TV movie Christmas… and more if you likeagreed to take part in the Christmas interview with Gala.fr.
Gala.fr: Has Santa Claus ever disappointed you?
Hélène de Fougerolles: Yes ! My mother is terrible at Christmas presents and I remember receiving a clock radio – that was the best – a saucepan or even a horsehair glove to remove cellulite. It was a bit annoying! [Rires]
Gala.fr: This year, what does your Christmas list consist of?
Hélène de Fougerolles: It’s a little before Christmas, but there is an Advent calendar, where we can have stones because I like lithotherapy. And every day, we open a little box with a different stone in it, so there you have it, these are the things that make me a little trippy.
Gala.fr: For a Christmas meal, what is the essential food for you?
Hélène de Fougerolles: Chocolate ! Plus, I’m vegetarian, so it’s a bit of a hassle for me, Christmas in general…
Gala.fr: The kitsch Christmas sweater, are you for or against it?
Hélène de Fougerolles: No opinion, it makes me laugh.
Gala.fr: What is your favorite Christmas song?
Hélène de Fougerolles: No I do not have any. I can tell you the traditional “Jingle Bells” and Mariah Carey, but I don’t like them that much…
Gala.fr: Is the Christmas tree installed in your home from December 1st or on the wire just before Christmas?
Hélène de Fougerolles: It’s quite a hassle, because I’m installing it all by myself. My daughter loves it when I do it, but she doesn’t help me at all, so it depends. Last year, it was really like the day before, and now I think I’ll have time to do it a little before. This is actually the only thing I agree to do. The Halloween decorations for example, I told him “Ah no, no, no, don’t ask me that”, then you have to decorate the whole house with things… no. But I know that makes him really happy.
Gala.fr: Does having children allow you to rediscover the Christmas spirit?
Hélène de Fougerolles: Just the mind! [Rires] I have my daughter who is autistic, so she is still a young girl of 20 but who looks 12, and our communication happens a lot through play, through jokes. We play all year round, so whether it’s Christmas or not Christmas, we’re 12 mentally old pretty much all year round. But it maintains youth better than a facelift!
Gala.fr: Besides, what did your daughter ask Santa Claus this year?
Hélène de Fougerolles: So, she’s 20 and she’s still into Barbies. It’s his great passion, and it’s the big trend this year, thanks to the film! But she has always been like that, knowing that a Barbie, with my daughter, given that she rips her clothes and cuts her hair quite quickly, has a lifespan of about a week. But it amuses him enormously! I think she’s taking revenge, actually on all the other human beings on her Barbies.
Gala.fr: What is the best gift we could give you for Christmas?
Hélène de Fougerolles: That Sat [La série dont elle occupe le rôle principal, NDLR.] keep on going ! Let there be a sequel to Sat.
Gala.fr: After Christmas, it’s the transition to the new year. How do you view 2024?
Hélène de Fougerolles: The word “apprehend” doesn’t suit me, because “apprehend” has a bit of a “we’re afraid” side to it, there’s a bit of a negative side to it. How do I welcome 2024? With such happiness to be in my region, in my house and I try to be positive. With everything that’s going on, I try to always look at the glass half full, so I welcome this new year with immense pleasure, even if I loved the year before too. I welcome all the years with immense pleasure!
