the contribution of businesses to public transport will increase in 2024

The contribution of companies to public transport in Ile-de-France will increase from February 1, 2024, Ile-de-France Mobilités, the organizing authority for Ile-de-France transport, indicated on Saturday following a council of exceptional administration.

In Paris, and in the departments of Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne, the contribution should thus amount to 3.20% of the payroll of companies with more than 11 employees , instead of 2.95% currently, IDFM indicated in a press release.

The contribution will be increased in the same proportions in the municipalities of Seine-et-Marne, Essonne, Yvelines, and Val d’Oise which belong to the perimeter of the urban unit of Paris, where it currently amounts to 2.01% of the payroll, and in the other municipalities of Ile-de-France further away, where it currently stands at 1.60%.

400 million additional euros in 2024

In total, this rate increase should generate around 400 million additional euros in 2024specified Ile-de-France-Mobilits in its press release.

The meeting of the exceptional board of directors was made possible by the publication in the Official Journal on Saturday of the 2024 finance law authorizing this increase on companies. The council’s vote follows the historic agreement signed with the state in September, IDFM said.

The agreement, signed by the president of the Authority Valrie Pécresse and the Minister for Transport Clément Beaune, is supposed to allow secure revenues from public transport in the Ile-de-France region until 2031 and financing the commissioning of the 300 kilometers of new lines planned for the coming years.

Above all, the agreement allows limit the increase in the price of the Navigo Pass (the transport subscription of Ile-de-France residents, editor’s note) at the level of inflation expected in 2024, i.e. 2.6%. This had undergone a very sharp increase of 12% in 2023, while companies had not seen their contribution increase last year.

The Authority has established its financing needs at 800 million euros for 2024. As a reminder, in 2024, the extension of metro line 14 to the north and south between Orly airport and Saint-Pierre must be put into service. Denis, the extension of the RER E towards Nanterre to the east, and that of metro line 11 towards Rosny-sous-bois with six additional stations.
