The Crown: That's why the royal family is so angry now

So far, not much has been heard from the palace about the Netflix series "The Crown". But the fourth season should provide angry royals.

The fourth season of the Netflix series "The Crown" has been available since November 15th. While the fans are happy about the new episodes, the royal family should be "not amused". At least that is what the "Mail on Sunday" claims, citing "Palastinsider".

According to this, friends of Prince Charles (72) accuse the producers of "The Crown" of using a "Hollywood budget" to present fiction as facts. The new season covers the events in the life of the royal family between 1979 and 1990, including the tumultuous relationship between Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The couple is played by Josh O'Connor (30) and Emma Corrin (24).

"Not the truth"

The insiders complained, according to "Mail on Sunday", that the series was "a drama and entertainment for commercial purposes", "without regard to the people actually involved, whose lives are being hijacked and exploited". No thought is given to their feelings. "That is not right or fair, especially when so many of the things shown are not true".

Among the "royal sources" to which the paper refers are allegedly "some of the closest confidants of Prince Charles". They accuse Netflix of taking advantage of the royal family's pain for financial gain and presenting fiction as fact. Charles is portrayed as a callous and egocentric man who marries the innocent Diana, is jealous of her popularity and continues his affair with the then married Camilla Parker-Bowles. "The public should not be fooled," said the insider, saying that this was not an accurate representation of "what really happened".

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan under attack?

According to the report, Prince William, 38, is not happy either that his parents are "exploited and portrayed in a false, oversimplified way to make money." The fourth season of "The Crown" shows, among other things, Diana's eating disorder, Emma Corrin's princess secretly eats large amounts of food and then vomits.

Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39) are also said to come under fire. The two resigned from their royal duties earlier this year, moved to California – and signed a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix. "There are raised eyebrows because Harry is taking millions from the company that is behind it all," explained an alleged insider. "Because where does a lot of Netflix's profits come from? 'The Crown'."
