Crucial T500

  • Very good overall performance
  • Up to 2 GB of DRAM cache
  • Correct software, 5 years warranty
  • Slim format, PS5 compatible
  • AES-256 data encryption
  • Endurance (TBW) correct, nothing more
  • No 4TB version
  • Slightly high price at launch

The reason to include the Crucial T500 in the comparison: its performance!

Crucial’s T500 is clearly one of the best Gen 4 PCIe SSDs. It reaches speeds of up to 7,400 MB/s sequential read, meaning you can load games, apps, and files multimedia in no time.

And in sequential writing? Speeds compete with a maximum peak of 7000 MB/s. Saving large files, such as videos, is fast.

We can compare the Crucial T500 SSD with other models in the same range. The Kingston XS1000 model (externally) certainly offers acceptable reading and writing performance, but this remains inferior to the Crucial T5000 model.

Compared to another model in the same range from competitor Corsair, the MP600 Core XT, the T500 alternative fares better. It is certainly more expensive by around 30 euros, but its flow rates are higher.

The problem, however, is compared to the Crucial T700 SSD, particularly with regard to the quality-price ratio. Barely 15 euros more expensive, the T700 demonstrates excellent performance, with staggering speeds (up to 12,100 MB/s reading and up to 11,500 MB/s writing).

Crucial, a serious brand for SSDs

Since the release of its first SSD in 2008, the C300, Crucial has particularly stepped up its game.

Maximum speeds of 200 MB/s for reading and writing with the C300, Crucial SSDs gain performance as new products become available. The M4 SSD (2011) then MX100 (2013) push speeds up to 500 MB/s.

A step has been taken with the SSD P5, released in 2018, and integrating NAND TLC technology. The speeds benefit from a significant boost, easily exceeding 3000 MB/s.

In short, Crucial was a pioneer in the field of SSDs and continues to offer high-performance and affordable products.
