The CSA and the Hadopi merge to become the Arcom


This new regulator, born from the merger between the two authorities, will supervise the audiovisual and digital industries from 1er next janver.

It is a major step in the history of media regulation in France. Forty years after the creation of the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication, the Superior Audiovisual Council and Hadopi merge on 1er January to give birth to the Arcom. This super-regulator will supervise the actors of television, radio, but also video on demand (Netflix, Disney +, Amazon Prime Video …), social networks and large digital platforms, while ensuring the fight against piracy- is the original mission of Hadopi. “It is important for the regulator to take its time and adapt to changes in its sector, whose transformations are accelerating”, notes Roch-Olivier Maistre, president of Arcom.
