Lately, several users of One UI 5.1 complained of a decrease in the autonomy of their Samsung smartphone after switching to the latest version of the interface. Fortunately, Samsung found where the problem was and fixed it.

When announcing the Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra, Samsung lifted the veil on One UI 5.1, the latest version of its interface, which convinced us in our smartphone tests. But who says new version can also mean new bugs and that, Samsung smartphone users have paid the price.

Smartphones under One UI 5.1 less enduring: the Samsung keyboard in question

As written PhoneArena, as early as February, several users of the interface had complained on Reddit, in particular about the low autonomy of their smartphones. A bug that only affected certain models, including the Galaxy S22, S21, Z Fold 4 and Z Fold 3. The reduction in endurance for these models could be up to three hours less.

Some had spotted a battery usage spike in the Samsung Keyboard app, the default keyboard installed on One UI. A bug recognized by a Thai community moderator. According to Samsung, its keyboard was consuming more power due to a ” additional qualification process (related to stickers and emojis) without explaining what it is used for.

A bug fixed: your Samsung phone will last longer

On March 2, the manufacturer rolled out an update to Samsung Keyboard to bring a fix (v5.6.10.31). There is a big chance for you that the app has already been updated for a long time as Samsung apps have an auto-update feature. But to check that you have the latest version, go to the Galaxy Store, then access the updates menu, to arrive on the Samsung Keyboard application. Go to the app settings to see if the app is up to date. Be careful, if the button does not appear, you already have the latest version.

Nevertheless,SamMobilenote that this patch will not solve all problems caused by One UI 5.1. For the English media, the new interface is still not at the level of its old version for certain models. As for the keyboard, you can very well use another Android keyboard, such as Google’s Gboard or Microsoft’s SwiftKey.
