The Daval Mystery: angry, the mother of Jonathann Daval rebels against the TF1 TV movie

Criticized on social networks, the fiction “Le Mystère Daval” recounting the investigation into the murder of Alexia Daval also made Martine Henry, the mother of the assassin Jonathann Daval, react strongly…

Monday, September 12, 2022, TF1 offered the public to follow the fiction Le Mystère Daval. Freely inspired by real facts, described in the book The Alexia Daval affair – the real story by Laurent Briot and Christophe Dubois, this TV movie recounts the disappearance and the investigation into the murder of Alexia Daval by her husband Jonathann.

This project, on a subject still very present in the minds and sensitive, made Martine Henry react strongly, the mother of the assassin. In an interview with our colleagues from L’Est Républicain, she expressed her sadness and deep dissatisfaction with this production.

Jonathann Daval’s mother opposes the TV movie on the case

For her, it’s time to leave her son and their family alone because Justice has done its job. Ascent, she says to have opposed the fiction: “But it’s useless, the case is in the public domain, regrets Martine Henry. We didn’t want it to happen, but we had no choice. It’s going to stir everything up again, we don’t need that. It must be said that it hurts families.

Visibly still in pain, Jonathann Daval’s mother continues: “I would like to be rid of all that, that we don’t talk about it anymore. All those who make their sentences for very serious things like Jonathann, they must be left alone. The more we talk about their business, the more it hurts them in prison.”

Martine Henry says her son won’t watch “Le Mystère Daval”

Martine Henry ends by indicating that the killer knows about Le Mystère Daval but that he will not look at it. Available via Salto several days before its broadcast on the front page (and now visible in replay on the TF1 site), this project with Liam Baty, Maud Baecker or even Michèle Bernier brought together 2.7 million viewers in front of the channel.

On social networks, many Internet users also rose up against the TV movie. For many, Le Mystère Daval has been judged as “ashamed“, “disrespectful” or “disgusting“. TF1 has indeed been accused of wanting to get rich on the back of a sordid affair that has destroyed several families.
