The Day Before: The 10-minute gameplay video is here, but it shouldn’t be reassuring at all

The studio Fntastic seems to be mired in a slump from which it has great difficulty in extracting itself when it comes to convincing us that The Day Before is a real game, not just a dubious project that only made false promises. The title was recently pushed back to the very end of the year over a so-called trademark legal dispute. The Day Before (before we learned that it would have been postponed in any case), while the studio had promised us a new gameplay video supposed to reassure us about the state of the game. Aware of the concerns raised by the postponement, Fntastic has committed to posting this video anyway, which is available today and which to say the least… astonishing.

A short walk in the heart of the apocalypse

What to say after watching these 10 minutes of gameplay, except that we are obviously very far from the first videos of the game. It is very difficult to think that we have here in front of us a game that was ready to be released in a few weeks, so badly. The flatness of the sequence shown will question more than one, since it is content to advance a character in a straight line in a completely dead city. Okay, it’s the end of the world, but still.

Between that, the completely lunar music of the workbench (it has the merit of making people laugh), the empty environments, the zombies who never really approach (practical to avoid showing the real gameplay of the gunfights, probably non-existent for the time) and the outdated interface, there is not really anything to be reassured. And yes, we seem to be doing the trial of the game way too early, but this video only shows once again that everything that was promised before is not really there and that we should not think that all these problems will be solved by the release, even if we only ask to be wrong. Let’s hope the studio just doesn’t know how to communicate well, but seeing their much more accomplished previous videos, it’s hard to believe.

The Day Before will be released on November 10 on PC. May be. Most likely.
