The Day Before: The studio looks back on the genesis of the MMO in a behind-the-scenes video

The TV series The Day Before continues today with the desire to Fntastic to prove at all costs that his MMO is real, and that it will come out against all odds if necessary. The game’s latest gameplay video didn’t reassure the characters who wishlisted the game on Steam, and the various accusations of plagiarism did nothing to help the case. The Day Before. This is why the studio wanted to show its credentials with a “dev vlog” which aims to retrace the development of the game, revealing the progress made since the first prototype.

Before The Day Before

In 2019, The Day Before took up the principle of the survival game in an apocalyptic world, but its artistic direction was quite different, almost cartoonish, at least in terms of character design. This quickly evolved following the growing ambitions of Fntastic, who wanted to go from a small town to a huge city, while adding a little more realism to his work.

You can see the changes made here via some before/after images, all in an effort to show us that the current version is supposed to be much better. Which doesn’t really work given that the 2021 demo is much more enticing than the one shown in 2023, which nevertheless runs on Unreal Engine 5.

Skepticism therefore remains in order given that the studio is still very silent about the game’s features, even if we are promised here that this is about to change. And we won’t talk about the absence of developers in this video (only one of the communication team members, Dana Soltangazinova, is present), which is supposed to be a dev vlog and which only shows us volunteers who have worked on the game. It is not known if The Day Before still deserves the benefit of the doubt (probably not), but we will continue to follow this case very closely.

The Day Before will be released on November 10 on PC.
