Teenage boy and pregnant friend chase each other with the police
A young person and his pregnant girlfriend were involved in a dangerous car chase with the police in Berlin.
- A spokesman said that the 16-year-old without a license had ignored all police stop signs on Potsdamer Strasse. Instead, he accelerated and changed lanes several times. The car sped with strong acceleration in oncoming traffic in the direction of Kurfürstenstrasse. He disregarded several red lights in order not to be checked.
- A 23-year-old pedestrian pushing a stroller was just able to prevent a collision by reflex. The car eventually came off the lane and crashed into a traffic light pole on the center island. The driver got out of the car and ran away, but was quickly arrested.
- His 17-year-old pregnant girlfriend was still in the car and complained of stomach ache. She came to a hospital for outpatient treatment.
- The young person is not heavily pregnant – the 16-year-old's original destination was not a clinic, the police spokesman said.
