The Day The Avengers Script Was Stolen From Samuel L. Jackson And Posted Online

Samuel L. Jackson tells how his ‘Avengers’ script was stolen and posted online and the security measures taken by the company to limit the damage…

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly (via Variety), Samuel L. Jackson – who can now be found in the new Marvel series, Secret Invasion – revealed that his script for Avengers (2012) was stolen from the production offices at Marvel Studios, leading the company to set up a fake buy after the stolen script appeared online for sale. Marvel has since tightened its security protocols, even going so far as to shoot down drones that fly over their production lots in hopes of capturing never-before-seen photos and footage.

They shot one“, said the famous interpreter of Nick Fury. “And they followed one to where the guy was. They found it and, yes, they got it.

The actor even adds that there have been worse cases than this, including the infamous theft of his screenplay.

I remember when we were getting ready to do Avengers, someone printed a copy of my script with my watermark on it and put it online to sell. I was shooting in Canada and Marvel came to Canada. It had been printed in the production office… They found out who it was, the guy quit, left the country. They set up a fake buy for the script, the guy didn’t show up. It was crazy.

SAME CONCERNS FOR EMILIA CLARKE

Emilia Clarke, co-star of Samuel L.Jackson In Secret Invasion, is also knowledgeable in the field, the actress being very familiar with what some fans are ready to do to obtain spoilers as was the case for Game of Thrones as well. When she joined the MCU, she told EW that she removed the SIM card from her phone on set so that no one could access her information. She also clarified that Marvel’s spoiler protection was so advanced that even Game Of Thrones was inspired by it.

When we were doing Game of Thrones, when we started getting to the later seasons, massive security changes happened”said Emilia Clarke. “I was chatting with David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] and they were like, ‘Marvel. We’re just learning from Marvel. Whatever Marvel does, we just want to do it.’ So it became, you don’t print anything – and then there was Peter Dinklage and myself, we were like, I need this on paper! I can’t learn my lines without it being on paper!’”

Finally, whether for avengers Or Game Of Thronesno incident of the kind slowed down the success of the two productions.

Samuel L. Jackson and Emilia Clarke can currently be found in Secret Invasion on Disney+.
