Several projects of Square-Enix were honored by PlayStation State of Play tonight, including the unreleased The DioField Chronicle. A very first trailer has been unveiled to introduce this new universe, whose artistic direction and codes are reminiscent of the best hours of the Final Fantasy Tactics.
His gameplay however, will not be turn-based on traditional grid terrain. The developers have imagined a new real-time tactical combat system, dubbed RTTB for Real-Time Tactical Battle. the trailer already shows us in action, as well as its captivating soundtrack and the beginnings of its history where theTrovelt-Schoevian EmpireI’Rowetale Alliance and the Kingdom of Alletain.
This fairly original project for its time is expected for 2022 on PS5 and PS4, on a still mysterious date.

Update : The DioField Chronicle is also announced on Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S for this year. Its music will be composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game Of Thrones, Westworld), his characters drawn by Taiki (Lord of Vermillion), his concept art provided by Isamu Kamikokuryo (Final Fantasy XII and XIII) and its screenplay by Yuu Ohshima (Fire Emblem Awakening).
