the disease finally studied in medical programs

Good news for women with endometriosis. Gynecological disease will be on the program of the second cycle of training for doctors.

This is a huge step forward for the place of endometriosis in medicine. A decree from the Ministry of Education published on September 10, 2020 includes the disease in one of the chapters in the program for medical students entering second cycle. This chapter, From conception to birth, pathology of women – Heredity – The child – The adolescent takes into account the main pathologies of women. The aim of teaching endometriosis will be to help future physicians identify the disease: "know how to diagnose, know the main complications and the principles of disease management" This is the whole point of this crucial teaching, according to the press release from EndoFrance.

This is a victory and a step towards a notable advance according to EndoFrance which reminds that it is a fight which has lasted for several years. Indeed, in 2005 already, the association alerted "the Ministry of Health on the lack of initial training dedicated to endometriosis for general practitioners and gynecologists."

Thanks to this innovation in the student programs, we can finally hope that current medical students will be the doctors of tomorrow to better support women suffering from this gynecological disease.

"Endometriosis at last in graduate medical programs!" ? Order of September 2, 2020 published in the official journal of the French Republic, amending various provisions relating to the study regime for the first and second cycle of medical studies and the organization of national classifying tests: in the category "From conception to birth, pathology of women – Heredity – The child – The adolescent", page 8 N ° 41, ENDOMETRIOSIS HAS NOW ITS PLACE! Starting this year, new students will study endometriosis: knowing how to diagnose it, and knowing the main complications and the principles of management. These two lines constitute a notable advance in the fight which we lead, with the associations of patients @endofrance and @endomind_fr, for the training of the practitioners in the disease. For years, our requests to the government and the ministries have multiplied and we are very happy to see that all these actions have a positive impact. In 2019 and on the occasion of the European week of prevention and information on endometriosis, the Minister of Solidarity and Health Agnès Buzyn announced an action plan to strengthen the management of endometriosis, to "better inform about this disease still too little known to the general public, women and health professionals". This is an important first step towards the sincere consideration of endometriosis in the entire medical profession and among young doctors, a relief and a motivation to continue to inform, raise awareness, listen and prevent!
