Greetings, officers!

A few weeks ago the first closed alpha of The Division Resurgence took place and the question that was on everyone’s lips was “Is there going to be PvP, will there be a Dark Zone? »

We are currently preparing our next phase of live testing and since it will include PvP as well as new gameplay elements, we wanted to share some information about how the Dark Zone works in this new mobile episode.

What is the Dark Zone ?

For many, this sinister name evokes a place as dangerous as it is unforgiving. But for those who have come to know it, the Dark Zone is a place rich in experience and loot opportunities!

The Dark Zone of NYC, also known by the acronym “DZ”, is an area of Manhattan that has been quarantined and confined due to extreme levels of contamination, quickly becoming a veritable no-man’s land. Overrun by several hostile factions and dangerous enemies, government forces were unable to maintain control there and were forced to abandon large quantities of material and equipment, making its streets fantastic potential sources of premium loot.

That said, successfully extracting said loot from the DZ may turn out to be more difficult than it seems, as other players may try to eliminate you in order to claim your hard-earned rewards! You will need to exercise the utmost caution when entering the DZ, and never forget that even your closest allies are likely to betray you…

So, enter the Dark Zone at your own risk, and always keep an eye out for those covering you!

Operation by session

The Dark Zone is an activity based on each distinct game session of The Division Resurgence. To face the dangers that lie there, you have the possibility to create a team with up to 3 other players. If you are looking for a challenge, you can of course try to enter the DZ alone. Please note: whether you are part of a team or not, you will be matched with other players and the activity will start at the same time for all participants.

Contamination levels within the Dark Zone have increased over time and are now so high that wearing masks is a must at all times. However, your mask’s filter will only protect you temporarily and if you fail to extract your contaminated loot before the timer runs out, your infection level will rise rapidly and you will be in mortal danger. It is therefore recommended to keep an eye on the stopwatch and establish the most efficient routes through the DZ in order to be able to get the most out of your stay.

Collect and extract loot

An essential part of The Division experience is obtaining and upgrading your loadout with new weapons and gear. As always, the higher the risk, the better the reward…and there is no greater risk than entering the Dark Zone.

Any object that has spent an extended period of time in the DZ is considered to have been contaminated with the Green Poison virus. Eliminating enemies and other players or looting gear crates will give you the opportunity to get Contaminated loot, but you’ll need to successfully extract and decontaminate it before you can equip and use it. Nevertheless, if you die before completing the extraction, some of your contaminated loot will fall to the ground and can be picked up by another player.

To extract contaminated loot, you must locate an extraction point and send out a distress signal so that an SHD helicopter will come and pick you up. When it arrives on site, it will send two ropes: the first being used to moor your contaminated loot and the second for your own extraction.

The helicopter will hover in place for a few moments so players can dock their loot. During this period, other players can cut the rope and drop the loot to the ground, which can then be retrieved by anyone. This means that other past renegade players could easily grab your hard-earned loot if you don’t stop them!

The Dark Zone is a lawless zone in which agents can decide to cooperate or betray each other… But be aware that an agent guilty of such a crime will be excluded from the SHD and considered a renegade.

Become renegade

Facing the dangerous enemies of the Dark Zone is hard enough on its own, but facing Rogue Agents is arguably an even bigger challenge… especially since anyone can choose to go Rogue in the Dark Zone. !

Becoming a Rogue Agent will allow you to attack other players, but will also make you a priority target for them. So, think carefully before deciding to turn your back on your comrades!

But don’t worry, there is always a possibility of redemption in the Dark Zone and if you really want to, you will have the opportunity to shake off this renegade status.

What have you got to gain ?

Yes, the Dark Zone is as difficult as it sounds and is one of the toughest challenges The Division Resurgence has to offer its players. But as you now know, it’s also full of fantastic weapons and gear that can be obtained by taking part in the action!

But the loot will not be the only reason that will push you to venture into this no man’s land…

As you explore the Dark Zone, defeat enemies, and successfully extract Contaminated loot, you will earn experience taken into account in the calculation of your Dark Zone level. This is a progression system that will allow you to earn rewards simply by participating in various activities based on your performance during each session within the DZ.

As we said before, the risks involved are high, but the rewards to be won are well worth it!

So, Agent… When it’s time to step through the gates of the Dark Zone, where will you be? And above all, who will cover your back?
